Importance of Inspections
A risk with buying or selling anything online is not seeing the product in person, which creates a heightened need for transparency on the seller’s part. While dealers can’t kick the tires themselves, OPENLANE sure makes it feel that way.
That’s why post-sale inspections are mandatory. They include a mechanical check, including a road test and an underbody structural examination. They give buyers an added layer of protection before the vehicle hits their lot.
We also provide sellers with optional pre-sale inspections, which consist of a thorough, 75-point check list. That way, if a seller isn’t aware of something that needs repair, they can identify it prior to sale and either fix the issue or call it out for potential buyers.
On a high level, the pre-sale inspections include the following categories: engine, fluid levels, warning lights, odometer, SRS/airbags, emissions control equipment, ABS/brake functionality, transmission, 4×4 engagement, differential and electrical accessories.
